Keith Winston: Personal Trainer
No more failure or set ups for failure. I believe in helping you become the “best you” you can be.
Fitness is a lifestyle; a journey that is traversed through consistent baby steps. Our culture has a bias toward gimmicky contraptions, diet pills, impossible diets, and cosmetic surgery. We can all envision that “one guy” wearing his electronic abdominal exercising belt whilst popping hoodia stink berry herbs as if it were Pez in a futile attempt to look like some airbrushed cover model featured on the cover of a fashion magazine.
My own personal experience as an obese adolescent, my public school teacher background, and the knowledge I gained when I became W.I.T.S certified gives me insight, sound strategy, and practical knowledge to help you be successful. First-hand experience of a high school gym coach that berated me for being overweight and not doing better, no matter what positive thing I accomplished, did little to motivate me to step toward the next level. I like to accent the positive: something is always better than nothing. My experience as a public educator has given me strategies that ensure that anyone wanting to succeed can and eventually will.
When I taught students, I learned how to scaffold lessons enabling students to be academically successful. My workout sessions move at a pace that is challenging but not overwhelming ... allowing you to progress and to improve at a rate you are comfortable with. Through the W.I.T.S. certification class, I received basic knowledge of exercise science so all routines are as safe and effective as possible. An exercise routine that makes you so sore that you are not consistently exercising over a given span of time is disappointing and self defeating. My routines are tailored made to fit most clients’ objectives ... with a focus on weight loss, endurance, and general strength building.

"Having had the opportunity to observe several theGYMkc trainers, I must warn potential pupils of Keith's deceptive affability. On the surface he appears to be most like the animated Disney version of Ichabod Crane, sauntering along, lost in thoughts of history or social theory. But don't be fooled! He will find a way to make you sweat using a measly 3 pound weight. His slender fingers will find their way to the 'increase speed' button on that treadmill more often than you'd like. He will smile innocently the whole time, the face of a cherub, the whip of beelzebub."

"Just a few short months ago, I couldn't get off the couch, literally and figuratively. I was 370 lbs and counting (up that is) with no end in sight. I lost all hope and desire to stop this downward spiral.
Then after a serious conversation with my doctor about my future or lack there of, I walked into theGYMkc (formerly known as Scott Fitness) and asked for help. Keith picked up the challenge without a moment's hesitation. With an awareness of my physical limitations, he figured out how to get me moving.
Today, I train with him three times a week. I can tie my shoes, sit down and stand back up, and make it up a set of stairs without thinking about calling 911. I can't believe I am saying this, but I actually look forward to the fun and exciting new exercises Keith has thought up since our last meeting to keep me from getting bored and keep me from giving up.
Bottom line, Keith Winston worked a miracle. And I thank him for that every day of my new life."
