With 20+ years of personal training experience, I've worked with many clients coming from varying backgrounds, different abilities, and unique fitness goals. I enjoy helping my clients with weight loss, gaining muscle, understanding nutrition, enhancing performance in sport and hobbies, improving mobility and moving better, as well as finding ways to continue to train while working around various injuries or limitations.
I'm a huge believer in building sustainable habits and love to watch people grow and succeed when a small "habit change" snowballs and leads to longer-term positive change. Tailoring workout and nutrition programs to people's abilities and schedules is an example of habit change that I help clients with. Every person is different regarding his/her physical abilities, injury health history, and time constraints. To better succeed, it's important that workouts and nutrition be customized to the individual. My introduction to fitness started fairly young as I looked to weight training as a means to boost my athletic potential on the football field and in other sports while in high school and subsequently college. I have always had a passion for strength training and performance, so I pursued that passion in college. After graduating from The University of Kansas in 2006 with a degree in Exercise Science, I immediately jumped into a career in fitness and haven't looked back. My personal fitness background includes a focus on powerlifting early on, in which I competed numerous times throughout the years. Strength was my priority then. Several years ago my priorities changed some to now focus on retaining muscle mass, improving conditioning, maintaining joint health and mobility, as well as trying to be the healthiest version of myself so that I can continue to do the things I enjoy for years to come. I have also prioritized finding a balance between my time in the gym and outside of it, so that I can continue to achieve my goals but also enjoy other things in life that I value. ~ Dustin ~ |
