“No more failure or set ups for failure. I believe in helping you become the “best you” you can be.”
Personal training is most successful and demonstrates the most results when collaboration with the client honors both the science and the art of fitness. Being well or fit is a physical state characterized by a combination of habits related to movement and nutrition. The journey of fitness is best traversed
through a series of ever consistent baby steps.

My model is keep is simple. Your practice of wellness and fitness needs to fit into your life and your daily routine. Crafting that practice will be unique for every client. My strength is intuition about where to start first. My ability is to quickly collaborate with my training clients to develop an immediately visible program targeted toward immediately visible goals.

In development is my method of keeping it simple for the body, the mind, and spirit. I believe that fitness is optimized by focusing on the whole person. I feel that the proper diet contributes to more than half of personal fitness. The right exercise is very important but exercise and diet must go together for success. Do not forget the mind and spirit. Personal training lifts the spirit and gives energy to your life. As you feel better and happier within yourself, you look better and feel more confident for the entire world to see.

My ideal client is any motivated individual at any age or walk of life. Some special times of motivation for clients are when women are around the age of 45-65. This is a time when the body starts changing and some of the demands of family and career are in transition. In my experience, it is a receptive time
and a wake-up call time to focus on each unique woman and to do some self-care. This is a good time to start or restart a life-long relationship with your wellness and fitness practice.
Another motivational time is a wedding. Brides are great candidates to spend some time in concentrated fitness work before the special day.
I have a fondness for work with baby boomers male or female and have many clients who fit that profile. The needs of this generation are diverse and challenging. Many are working against injury or chronic pain. Flexibility and balance are a challenge. A program needs to be delicately crafted with all
these client’s future fitness needs in mind. Baby boomers can be some of my most motivated and persistent clients and those that most challenge my broad learning and experience.

Speaking of special experience, I am a committed student of the martial arts and yoga traditions. Though I use all the modalities of modern fitness theory and practice, I find much value in incorporating the traditions of the East as well.

My own personal experience as an obese adolescent, my public school teacher background, and the knowledge I gained when I became W.I.T.S certified gives me insight, sound strategy, and practical knowledge to help you be successful. My first-hand experience of a high school gym coach that berated me for being overweight and not doing better did little to motivate me to step toward the next level. I like to accentuate the positive.

My workout sessions move at a pace that is challenging but not overwhelming and allows you to make progress and to improve at a rate you are comfortable with. An exercise routine that makes you so sore that you are not consistently exercising over a given span of time is disappointing and self-defeating. My routines are tailored made to fit most clients’ objectives ... with a focus on weight loss, endurance, and general strength building.

~ Keith Winston ~
"Having had the opportunity to observe several theGYMkc trainers, I must warn potential pupils of Keith's deceptive affability. On the surface he appears to be most like the animated Disney version of Ichabod Crane, sauntering along, lost in thoughts of history or social theory. But don't be fooled! He will find a way to make you sweat using a measly 3 pound weight. His slender fingers will find their way to the 'increase speed' button on that treadmill more often than you'd like. He will smile innocently the whole time, the face of a cherub, and the whip of  Beelzebub."

~ Kip Ludwigs: Keith's client, massage therapist, & owner of Solaris Massage ~

"Just a few short months ago, I couldn't get off the couch, literally and figuratively. I was 370 lbs and counting [up that is] with no end in sight. I lost all hope and desire to stop this downward spiral.

Then after a serious conversation with my doctor about my future or lack there of, I walked into theGYMkc and asked for help. Keith picked up the challenge without a moment's hesitation. With an awareness of my physical limitations, he figured out how to get me moving.

Today, I train with him three times a week. I can tie my shoes, sit down and stand back up, and make it up a set of stairs without thinking about calling 911. I can't believe I am saying this, but I actually look forward to the fun and exciting new exercises Keith has thought up since our last meeting to keep me from getting bored and keep me from giving up.

Bottom line, Keith Winston worked a miracle. And I thank him for that every day of my new life."
