You’ll notice various changes in the way our gyms look as well as new practices and protocols ... that have been added to our already existing practices and protocols. There will be new signage to remind people to maintain the recommended 6-foot social distance, to remind them to wash their hands, and to remind them to wipe down the equipment before and after use. We understand these changes may be difficult, but by making these changes for the short term and working together, we can better navigate our "new normal" in the long term.
Here are some things we have already implemented and/or will be implementing to help keep our gyms safe and to help support you:
- All theGYMkc front desk staff will be required to wear face masks correctly throughout their shifts.
- Our employees have been asked to stay home if they feel unwell or if they’ve been in contact with someone who is/has been sick.
- There will be more frequent cleaning and sanitizing ... especially in high-traffic areas.
- We are implementing an updated, more thorough cleaning protocol, which includes a stronger antimicrobial cleaner, more detailed task list, and added protections for staff.
- Our door entry hand scanner is sanitized throughout the day. Our biometric hand scanners contain a silver-based antimicrobial agent … which is embedded into the materials used to produce the platen, providing a finish that inhibits the growth of a broad spectrum of bacteria, mold, and fungi and remains active for the life of the hand scanner.
- As before the closure, there will be access to hand sanitizer in the gyms.
- The antimicrobial wipes were implemented prior to the government shutdown. They will continue to be available. We ask that you limit the amount of wipes that you use for each cleaning. One wipe is sufficient for cleaning a piece of equipment. Hand sanitizer and antimicrobial wipes are in high demand … so we need to be cognizant of not using more than necessary.
- We eliminated sweat towels when we installed the antimicrobial wipe stations. This is to help decrease the likelihood of viral transmission to our staff [since they will no longer be handling potentially contaminated towels].
- All of the bathrooms are stocked with antibacterial hand soap for handwashing.
- You will be asked to maintain the CDC's suggested 6-foot distance from front desk staff, personal trainers, and members.
- We have eliminated yoga mats, foam rollers, boxing gloves, boxing wraps, cloth wraps, resistance bands, ect because these items are difficult to thoroughly sanitize.
- We will continue having the carpet flooring professionally cleaned and sanitized on a regular basis.
- The cardio equipment has been blocked and positioned so there is the recommended 6-foot distance between each person.
- As policies and requirements change, we will communicate these to you. We are taking steps to ensure your health and safety and are taking measures to support you and our community.
- There will be new limits on the number of people allowed to gather in rooms and communal areas at any given time. This number is set by government entities.
- Especially during Phase 1 of reopening where there is a restriction on the number of people allowed in the gym at any given time, we ask that you please be cognizant of the time you are spending in the gym … so that others may utilize the facilities.
- We will not be open 24 hours a day at the beginning of the reopening. As restrictions change, we will reevaluate this policy. The gyms will not be open unless there is a staff member present. With that said, we are working toward adding extended staff hours to the beginning of the day and also at the end of the day.
- We have purchased an airPHX system for each of the gyms. This is an air filtration system that eradicates pathogens at a cellular level. It kills CORONAVIRUS, mRSA, staph, norovirus, E coli, mold, and odor problems. This system offers the newest science that kills bacteria and other germs and the odors they cause … in the air and on surfaces in the gym. They will be installed as soon as they are delivered to us.
Here are some things we expect you to implement to help keep our gyms, staff, personal trainers, and members safe:
- Stay home if you feel unwell or if you’ve been in contact with someone who is/has been sick.
- Wash your hands often ... and for the recommended 20 seconds.
- Avoid touching your face.
- Clean your cell phone frequently.
- Cover coughs/sneezes with your elbow.
- Use the antimicrobial sanitizer wipes to clean equipment before and after use.
- Stay at least 6 feet apart when moving throughout the gym.
- We strongly suggest that you wear a face mask or cloth face covering in the gym.
- Be considerate of staff, personal trainers, and the members of theGYMkc [remember, we’re all in this together].
